I use a MBP and when at home have always used the USB white Apple peripheral keyboard (with numeric keypad). When I'm sitting at my machine, I don't have bright room lights illuminating everything. The layout and feel are identical to what I'm used to. The feel of this keyboard is basically perfect. I write for a living, and I'm wedded to Apple keyboards. I'm torn about this Apple Magic keyboard. I am usually a little lost when switching to the smaller wireless model (I now use it with my iPad). It's not too hard but it will take some time I'm sure. If you used the smaller WIRELESS model without keypad you will find some key positions to be a little different. It's important to note: If you used the older WIRED keyboard with keypad, you'll adjust in no time. I'm not sure why, but I do often find myself setting up in the wrong spot on the keyboard and my left hand will be over one key. Probably the only thing missing (for me) is a backlight. Most people want the pop-up back, but that was actually the last thing I wanted because it causes you to bend your wrist up, which is bad. It doesn't lay flat like a MacBook, but it's much flatter and less strain on my wrists. One key thing that made me happy to get this keyboard is that it's not slanted as high in the back as the old version. If you've used and MacBook Pro/Air or other Apple Keyboard, it won't be hard to adjust. They simply tightened the space between the alpha keys and the arrows, and the arrows and the keypad. The keyboard is slightly narrower than the original wired version, however the key travel is pretty much the same.

FWIW - I've had it for just over three weeks now and Bluetooth is showing 87%. It's actually holding longer than the Magic Trackpad 2 battery, both of which are supposed to last "about a month." The nice thing is that both can be charged by a Lightning Cable, and can even be connected to a Mac as the communication method (vs Bluetooth) if so desired.

I've not had it a full month, but the battery seems to be holding well. In fairness, I used my Amazon Rewards to offset the cost difference. So wavered on getting white or splurging for some time before caving.

When they announced the iMac Pro and the Space Grey accessories, I really wanted to grab one - but I hated knowing that it would cost an extra $30. I also have the original battery powered model that lacks the 10-key and it's just too small and cramped for me, and using it without full-size arrow keys or the 10-key was rough. It's lasted me easily close to 10 years, but as my office evolved having a wireless keyboard would prove to be more of a convenience. That's perfect since it's the same cable used by the iPhone.ģ) It's very lightweight - only about 1lb.Ĥ) Since it's made by Apple, all of the function keys operate like they're supposed to (that's not the case with aftermarket keyboards as they're not allowed to access those parts of MacOS).ĥ) It doesn't have the keystroke lag that other aftermarket keyboards have.Ħ) It doesn't have the wake-from-sleep issue that other aftermarket keyboards have.

That's a huge plus as others I've tried have been flimsy.Ģ) The internal battery is rechargeable via the Lightning port on the back. Here are my thoughts:ġ) It has the solid look and feel that the original Magic Keyboard has. Then last week I learned about this one and picked one up.
APPLE KEYBOARD WITH NUMERIC KEYPAD ENGLISH FOR MAC
Unfortunately, after trying both the Logitech K750 for Mac and the Kanex MultiSync Aluminum Mac Keyboard with lackluster results, I figured it was a lost cause as Apple's Magic Keyboard didn't include the 10-Key. I've been a Mac user for years now and always wanted to be able to use a wireless keyboard.
